La région Ouest sera, sous peu, plus accessible à un plus grand nombre de Mauriciens vivant sur le plateau central, avec la mise en service de la Phoenix-Beaux Songes Link Road. Les travaux de construction de la route Phoenix/Beaux-Songes, qui ont commencé en janvier 2009, sont complétés à 90 %. Dans deux mois cette route sera prête.

Sabine L., âgée de 8 ans et habitant Camp-Le-Vieux, n’a pas été gâtée par le destin. Alors que sa grand-mère de 78 ans voulait qu’elle quitte l’abri pour enfants pour venir vivre chez elle, la fillette a été percutée par un camion. Au moment du drame, Sabine L. traversait la route sur un passage clouté, dimanche matin, à Canot, Petite-Rivière.
