Six sentenced for theft of telephone cables

Magistrate Asha Egan Ramano sentenced six residents of Pailles to jail for stealing telephone cables belonging to Mauritius Telecom (MT). An inspector of MT had filed a police complaint on February 4, 2008 alleging that some 300 metres of cables belonging to the company were stolen. Their value was estimated to be around Rs 519,332.
